When society’s success Metrics are making us unhappy or Miserable

Small Group (10 women) Workshop

Next Date: Q2 2025

Are you chasing the:

→Graduate degree?

→Relationship?

→Fancy house?

→Influence, status or authority?

→Big promotion or title or project?

→High salary or business revenue?

Or whatever other life goals you’re pushing towards?

There’s nothing wrong with going after any of these.

UNLESS…

It leaves you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, drained.

You’re often canceling on or missing important moments with family and friends, because of the energy and time it’s taking you.

You’re not experiencing the joy of living your life and achieving your goals.

If you’re saying,

It feels like I’m trying to push a boulder up a hill.”

Why don’t I feel happier about this?

What am I doing wrong?”

The answer is not to put even more effort into chasing the goal.

I invite you to instead pause and explore with me…

Why do I want it?

We’re often working towards the job title, salary, business revenue, the neighborhood and house, the vacation spots…

Because that’s what we see and hear as the typical life milestones we should aim for…from society or our family or social circle or what we see online.

And sometimes we wonder, “I have all these things, or I’m making progress towards all these things…why aren’t I feeling as happy as I should be.”

It’s likely because the milestones themselves might not be in alignment with you. And your milestones are usually tied to your definition of success. Which means, your definition of success may not be in alignment with you.

Many of us have adopted a definition based on societal norms and expectations - ‘traditional success' - because...

We didn't know there was an alternative.

This is what I realized when I was 16 months into a PhD program and found myself slowly losing my vitality, feeling like I’d dug myself into a hole I didn’t know how to get out of…

And when I went back into a corporate market research role, I was left wondering, after that initial spark of happiness fizzled out, why something still felt off.

The path I had been on, what I thought I had to achieve was based on how I thought I should be living. And I needed to take a step back and reconnect to myself to recognize it was misaligned.

Living life this way in the long term - unconnected from your authentic needs, desires, and values can:

- make it challenging to show up as your full self in all areas of your life

- compromise your overall health and vitality

The solution?

Going back to the basics and exploring what authentic success is for you.

Not what society has said. Not what your culture, community, or family has said.

What you really want to create for yourself in your life.

Authentic success is highly individual.

And that is what we explore in this workshop.

What you’ll walk away with…

We'll move through three exercises that will jumpstart this process for you, so by the end of our time together, you'll know

a) how to access the essence of and b) what elements or qualities might be part of your definition of authentic success.

How past Participants have described the experience…

“It’s like gathering ideas for a mood board.”

So if you’re ready to

→ release the weight and frustration of expending your energy, focus & time on what you thought would make you happy, but hasn’t

→ disentangle from societal norms and expectations around success

→ create what truly matters

and more

by redefining what authentic success means to you…
